Leah H. Tremble

Leah joined City Dog Training in June of 2009 with a strong background in behavior analysis, elementary and special education. Leah worked as a behavior consultant to teachers and families having children with developmental disabilities, autism, and other behavioral issues. During her time working for the public school system, she designed and implemented behavioral programs in both the home and school setting as well as acted as the district coordinator for behavioral programs.

Always having a strong desire to work with animals, Leah began the transition of changing careers in 2000. While still teaching, she began petsitting and dogwalking for friends’ pets. Word quickly spread and shortly after Leah was able to open her own business providing in-home care for pets.

Also, in 2000 Leah began attending dogtraining workshops primarily focused on positive reinforcement training, clickertraining and animal welfare. She contacted dog trainers and began observing private lessons and classes that they taught to learn about canine behavioral issues, learning styles, training techniques, as well as owner/handler concerns. By 2003, Leah was regularly assisting puppy kindergarten, manners classes, and reactive dog classes. Since that time, Leah has taught Puppy Kindergartens, Graduate Puppy Classes, Basic Manners, Real World Training, and Kids and Dogs classes. She has supervised both adult and puppy playgroups and has worked extensively with reactive and aggressive dogs as well. She has also achieved her CPDT-KA, Certified Professional Dog Trainer-Knowledge Assessed certification.

As a trainer, Leah believes in improving the relationship between animals and people. She teaches people how to communicate effectively with their dogs utilizing compassionate, humane, science-based training methods intended to build a strong and enduring bond between dog and handler. In class, Leah emphasizes the positive for both people and dogs. Focus is placed on not only what the dog is doing right but what the handler is doing right. She believes classes should be fun, educational and rewarding for both people and dogs.

Leah believes that there is ALWAYS MORE to learn, do, experience and improve upon regarding our knowledge and skills. She continues to work and learn from other talented trainers, regularly attends seminars and workshops and eagerly participates in various animal educational experiences.

Leah is the companion to a free-spirited, energetic, athletic, and joyful mutt named Lyric. Together they enjoy trick training, agility, and playing at home, in the fields, in the woods, at the ocean, during the day, at night, in sunny, rainy and snowy weather. Occasionally, they have been known to take long naps together too.
